.......A very interesting article is found on the New York metropolis site .The author, Chrisitne Hamm takes to issue a question William Kentridge answered in our 98 interview. It is without a dought very engaging and confronting for any American critic.


  .........Pepe Ozan was born in Argentina and moved to San Francisco 26 years ago.A Sculptor, designer and creator of the Operas of Burning Man, Pepe recently spent 7 months in India capturing the images of "Ganga Ma". The Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco and the Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh, PA, have exhibited his sculptural work. Recently he has been assigned by the Arts Commission of San Francisco to create a public sculpture in the intersection of Potrero and Cesar Chavez streets, in the Mission District of San Francisco.

  .......DAH Teatar just celebrated it's 10 Year Anniversary. This group based in Belgrade have just completed a co-production with the 7 Stages Theatre in Atlanta ,GA. called 'Maps of Forbidden Rememberance". It was performed this last June in Belgrade and they are currently in the planing stages for a US tour in 2002.

  ........ Dirt Boy, the debut feature length film directed by Jay Frasco is showing at the AFIFEST on Nov. 3 in the Egyptian 2 theater in Hollywood. Dirtboy has also been selected to be screened at the Tokyo International Film festival.

 

........Bert Danckaert is a photographer based in Antwerp, Belgium. His site contains many of his installations as well as gallery showings. Bert's work is specific to the still life in cities.

 


  .......I received updates from Universes in Universe regarding the First International Triennale of Contemporary Art in Yokohama . On their website you will find a comprehensive tour of the exhibition with works by 38 of the participants.

  ........William Kentridge's touring retrospective moves to Chicago.

  .............Pat Binder is a conceptual artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and now living in Berlin. In addition to being an artist in her own right , she along with Gerhardt Haupt author the Universe in Universe website, which is one of the most comprehensive artist websites on line.

  ........Carbon 7 continue to release new and exciting recordings The latest recording is "High Infidelity", by PRESENT "Souls For Sale", a track which was originally the first part of “Ceux d’en Bas”, on the album “N°6”, plunges us into a piece lasting 27 minutes. The piece is divided into several intense phases, with more contrasted soundscapes, and especially the addition of a brass section, which, emerging from the wall of sound provided by the basic line-up, better penetrates the emotions of the listener.
PRESENT is inescapable, and the steamroller continues its work in this great fresco.

 

........Charlie Smith returned from the Decompression party in San Francisco and forwarded his latest in the series of fire sculptures. "Teetering Cusps" is a firey rocking horse style toy! Plans are underway for a New York showing.


 
.......... Paul Jorgensen has started a new radio show in Southern Oregon. The show is carried by Jefferson Public Radio and focuses on Possible musics. Comprised of three one-hour seamless mixes the shows purpose is to expose the audience with music it has not heard before and to up-the-ante of Public Radio. Jefferson Public Radio is a member of NPR-National Public Radio, CPB-Corporation for Public Broadcasting, CPRO-Consortium for Public Radio in Oregon, West Coast Public Radio, and an affiliate of Public Radio International.

  ..........Steve Roach releases his latest in the Timeroom editions. CORE has evolved into a dynamic convergence of Steve's most essential organic, electronic, rhythmic and atmospheric elements. This summer has been a time of renewal as Roach turned away from all concerts, collaborations and other offers, directing the focus deep into the heart of this powerful journey back to the core.

 
........Voice Crack the Swiss sound duo release a new recording called "presque_chic". The crack'd duo continue to provoke audiences with their unique styles of sound manipulations. Their most recent performance was at the 2001 Pol 5, Mousonturm in Frankfurt . In addition they completed an installation for the 2001 Biennale di Venezia, San Stae, entitled sound_shifting.

 
..........Jeff Spirer has updated his website with a beautiful new colour portfolio. His art is in capturing the very things we walk by each and every day but fail to see beauty in. Jeff is also the webmaster for the Bill Laswell website.

 
.......David Patterson is gearing up to start writing and recording with Columbia artist Shawn Mullins. David will travel to Atlanta where they will begin work this November. A new release is due in early 2002

  .............Leah Mann and Ela Lamblin collectively known as Lelavision return to 7 Stages in Atlanta, GA November 12 - 25 for a performance of their piece entitled "Banging Bamboozles".

  ..........John Oswald is a composer whom coined the term plunderphonics, (Plunderphonics, or Audio Piracy as a Compositional Prerogative) currently based in Canada he has released a number of recordings specializing in 'plunderremixing' artists' whom have generally been accepting of his methods, most notably the Grateful Dead's "Dark Star" 2cd release . Other's like Michael Jackson have taken to destroying his work.

  ..........Composer Brian Arbuckle is traveling to Nashville this November 12th through December 3rd. New compositions for the Angola Blue movie. Brian also has some new remixed music at Nicholas David's site. Nick's site is very well designed with some tasty loops.

  ..........Pierre Mertens site is beautifully designed using the flash plug in. Pierre's art mainly intervenes on ordinary objects. He analysis daily reality and subsequently does subtle intervenions to influence the banality. He gives the ordinary a new skin. Pierre has also created a virtual walk through the Plantijn College exploring 12 Exhibits of his in various locations.

  .......Ray Cirino produced a beautiful piece at the Burningman Festival in Nevada this year. Mudance is a collection of bodies writhing in mud and oil. Ray has mailed a number of images which are available for your viewing pleasure.

  .......Nebojsa Ignjatovic is the principle composer for the theater group DAH Teater based in Yugoslavia. He recently sent me some of his new music which is now posted on the music page here. More information will be posted shortly.

  .......Carter Kaplan is a writer with whom I connected with through the DGM guestmeisters postings . He is an Associate Professor of English at Mountain State University in Beckley, West Virginia and his latest book is called "Critical Synoptics".
