  • Voice Crack release their new CD called infra_red, they will be performoing in Atlanta on the 19th February as part of the Connect show series
  • Jean-Paul Dispaux will be in Atlanta for the screening of his film Capoeira, Bel Horizon, a documentary filmed in Brazil three years ago about the Capoeira movement there .

  • DAC '99 The Second Annual Digital Arts and Culture Conference (DAC '99) brought an international field of artists, new media practitioners, scientists and theorists together at the beginning of the month.
  • Elliott Peter Earls performance was very interesting to say the least. Technical difficulties and all.
  • Regina Frank wove a web of connectivity.
  • One People connected with Anthony Fragola, Film Professor at University of North Carolina, and subsequently Charity has been invited to serve as a judge at the upcoming Film Festival in March 2000.
  • Istvan Kantor sent us some great pictures of his new works. we hope to bring him to Atlanta someday.
 
  • Aura Msimang Berton (South Africa) finishes her new album, ITSHE, which is slated for an early Y2K release. In this 'fete des hybrides multiculturelle' Aura's sultry voice is accompanied by a euro - african blend of traditional and pop rhythms and was produced by Jean-Paul Dispaux (Belgium).
 
  • Jud Hockersmith's new short experimental epic and directorial debut, POSTMODERN REVELATIONS, screened at MediaHead on Monday November 1. The place was packed and it was received very well. Written and performed by Ian Fuller, Wes Kennemore and Alex Omli; produced by Elise Vullo; cinematography by EricG; edited by Yuri Gitman; sound engineering by Paul Jorgensen.

  • LIBERATED VOICES: Contemporary Art from South Africa is on exhibit at the Museum for African Art in New York City from 17 September 1999 through 2 January 2000. This cogitative collection of works from thirteen of South Africa's young contemporary artists offers an intimate, if not chafing, diary of personal histories and cultural truths. Exhibiting artists include Bridget Baker, David Koloane, and Sue Williamson
