.......Ray Cirino produces a beautiful piece ah Burningman Festival in Nevada this year. Mudance is a collection of bodies writhing in mud and oil. Ray sent this to me this month.


 ..........I met an amazing artist at Black Rock City this year. Michael Christian did a fantastic piece called 'Flock'. It stood sixty feet high looking much like the skeletal structure of an alien lifeform, it's feet spread out like veins lodged deeply into the playa. He and his team of workers burnt the midnight oil out there and gave the city folk a lot to look at each night. His site is highly informative and I look forward to getting to know more about Michael.

 ....... Charles Smith and Sydney Klinge returned to Black Rock City to show their hearth at this year's Burningman Festival. Syd also posted the Hearth site documenting it's construction and final arrival at BRC last year. This year's burn was another life changing experience and definately well organized.

 ........ Dirt Boy, the debut feature legth film directed by Jay Frasco has been accepted to both Tokyo Int'l. Film festival and AFI Int'l. Film Festival, in November. Screening dates are forthcoming, as well
as details. I had the fortunate opportunity to include some original music in beautifully shot feature. Dirtboy had it's American premier at the Seattle film Festival this last May.

 ........ A new DVD will be issued this September by Projeckt. This film is by Steve Lazur with the soundtrack by Steve Roach.

 ........Paul Du Toit short listed for DAIMLER CHRYSLER SCULPTURE AWARD 2002.
The third Daimler Chrysler art prize will be given for sculpture in 2002, it has been announced. The prize was established "to further the careers of innovative young contemporary artists, and raise the profile of South African art both at home and abroad". this year Harald Szeeman, director of the Venice Biennale, will
take part. Also on the panel are Marilyn Martin, director of the NationalGallery; artist David Koloane; Japanese curator Fumio Nanjo; Richard Floodof the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Fanyana Shiburi of DaimlerChrysler SAand Dr Uli Kostenbader of DaimlerChrysler Stuttgart.

 ........ Holger Czukay is currently back in Koln from London where he spent time with the Scottish writer Alan Warner. He also spent some time with Brian Eno there.. Holger and Brian go way back when they first recorded together on the After the Heat Recordings on the infamous Sky label. Do you remember that far back?

 .............The Venice Biennial is currently still showing till November 4. This particular event is extremely well documented by Pat Binder and Gehard Haupt in their Universes in Universe site.  ........Carbon 7 continue to release new recordings faster than the artist formerly known as prince- currently known as prince.The latest recording is by Miguel Sanchez, a Spanyard, brought up in Belgium now living in Paris. On this recording he is working with musicans from all sources and styles and knows the meaning of the words 3global eclecticism2.

 

.........William Kentridge at the Yokohama Triennale, it is the first large-scale international exhibition of its kind to be held in Japan, has the broad theme 'Mega Wave - Towards a New Synthesis', with the aim of "developing a new and more comprehensive vision of art for the future, a vision that creates a closer relationship between art and society". Held in the environs of a wharfside development called Minato Mirai 21 in Yokohama city, the triennale features 100 artists from around the world, presenting a diverse selection of painting, sculpture, photography, film, installations, and other art forms.

...........Daniel Quinn is an author whom lives in Houston TX with his wife. Many of his books have focused on revisiting humanistic values, this along with a better understanding of our civilization today and how we came to live with the stories we carry with us now . He has authored amongst others, Ishmael, The Story of B and Beyond Civilization. His most recent work is After Dachau (2001), a novel that critics have compared to Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World.  ...........Definately visit Sue Williamson's website in Cape Town, South Africa. Artthrob is in it's fourth year now and is the most comprehensive site on art events, artists, news and reviews there. Sue is now keeping a online diary which is facinating reading as well.

 
.........Pierre Mertens is a contextual artist from Belgium. He is one of our more recent additions to the onepeople site. He sent along some interesting artists he knows, one of which is Bert Danckaert. His site is flash based so you need no introduction as to what plug in you'll need. Definately visit their sites.

 
.......... I have started a new database on indigenous peoples around the globe. My purpose is to understand our planets cultures and inhabitants. I am continuing to build upon this project by enlisting the help of professionals already out in the field. This data base will help onepeople become more clear about it's own mission and purpose .

 
.......Bryan Carlstrom is an engineer/producer living in the Los Angeles area. In addition to working with some of the recording industry's biggest names, Bryan has configured one of the largest portable Pro Tools recording systems I've ever seen.
He was most recently interviewed by Digidesign and you can read all about him on their website. He also maintains his own site which is filled with information about him and his work

 .............The SoNoFJoRG has posted a new mp3 on the site currently at this location. A relocation to the State of Oregon, close to the historical Shakespearean Festival Town of Ashland. Current works include composition for the Zanzibar produced series called 'The IT Factor'. 'IT' debuts on the Bravo Network this September.
