Leave Athens, Greece and fly to Cairo, Egypt. The Luxor massacre has just occured leaving 59 people dead, we decide to continue south to Johannesburg, South Africa

Arrive In Johannesburg, South Africa.

Meet with Kendell Geers, Willem Boshoff, Stephen Hobbs, Pat Mautlao David Koloane, Jan Storm and Film Resource Unit.

Depart Johannesburg for Kwazulu-Natal on the eastern coast

Drive to the Ngeli Forest where we ring in the New Year (with Paul's family) in the solitude of indigenous forests, waterfalls and no sign of civilization for miles.

Depart Johannesburg by train for Cape Town





Jan 20.
Arrive in Cape Town, meet with Sue Williamson, Warrick Sony, Bridget Baker, Mark Coetzee and Alex and Zelda Hamilton of Bang the Gallery.

Depart Cape Town by bus

Return arrival in Johannesburg where One People is joined by Jean-Paul Dispaux (from Brussels, Belgium)

Depart Johannesburg at 2pm. Camp next to Vaal River at 6pm. The best burning wood was found here

Camp next to Orange River in Upington, monkeys.everywhere..
13.
Cross Namibia Border at nine am. Looking out on Fish River Canyon by three that afternoon.

Drive to Windhoek. Sleep well in quaint German hotel. Valentines

Drive to Swakopmund and spend the night at Zilke and Petrus van der Merwe's house. A stone's throw from the Dunes.

Discover Johann van der Schalkwyk's photography and Austin Stevens.

17.
Leave for Windhoek and drive to back Windhoek and go to Art Museum there and meet Archie can der Vloek. Stay at the local hostel.


18.
On the road by six am. Drive Northeast to the town of Rundu. Camp next to the Okavango river
19.
Drive to the Caprivi Strip and go South into Botswana and camp at Drotsky's cabins
20.
Drive to Maun. Discover the Power Station (not the group).


21.
Fly out of Maun to Moremi Game Reserve. Spend night at Okuti Lodge.

22.
Fly back to Maun. Jean-Paul plays with Stepping Razor... LIVE.





23.
Drive to to the South African border and camp out in a huge Storm.
24.
Drive to the town of Siyabushwa. Meet with with Franzine Ndimande, an Ndebele artist.

25.
Drive to Pretoria and then into the Magaliesberg, home to Tessa Fleisher.

26.
Complete final leg of trip back in Johannesburg and spend the night at Andreas's and Sue's house.
27.
Meet with Jan Storm in morning and make arrangements for accommodations in Yeoville. See Zikwe Msimang Berton in Hillbrow.

Interview Allen Jorgensen (photographer and writer) in Magaliesberg .


March 1.
Go to Soweto and meet with Freddy Nyathele from SARA. See the Mandela house (past and current), see a lot of the things that the President saw on his trip. Drop Jean-Paul off at the airport, and bid farewell to a good man and a safe journey back to Brussels.

See Dad off for the third time since being here.

6.
Attend the Eno workshop in Downtown Studios.
7.
Spend day in Newtown on the internet.

.Try to Locate "Get the Funk Out" in Melville.A lazy Sunday afternoon

Interview William Kentridge. Getting very nervous about our departure with in 48 hours. Have dinner with Alan Robertson and Richard Olssen

Leave Johannesburg for Brussels.
11.
Catch connecting flight to Atlanta. . Tanya Baldwin picks us up and we re-discover the joys back home.
